It's an open and shut case!

Remember when the older/wiser generation taught their children, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”?  It is amazing how people like to laugh; criticize; judge and hurt people, just so they can get attention. It is amazing how people who have made mistakes (all of us); made wrong choices; done some things that we were both ashamed and embarrassed about, can talk about someone else who is in the same situation. If we examined ourselves, before laughing at someone else’s expense, perhaps we would shut our mouths and open our hearts.

Do you wonder how God feels after He delivers us from some pain and mistakes; forgives us for some major foul ups and wipes us clean from some filthy habits; then we go and make fun of someone else who is struggling; lost; bound and hurting? There is no God, or love, in people’s feeble attempt at getting attention, (negative attention). Those who know God, should know better. Perhaps we should shut our mouths and open our hearts!

So the next time we decide that we would like to use our mouths for garbage; for hurting; for slandering; for tearing down someone else; let’s examine ourselves, to see if we are in the faith. Let’s examine ourselves, and our motive for saying something mean and talking about one of God’s creation. Perhaps we should shut our mouths and open our hearts.

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brother, this should not be.” James 3:9-10 NIV

Jesus said to the men who wished to stone the woman who had been caught in adultery, “…If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7) And they all left, one by one. Why? They had all sinned; made mistakes; been in trouble; been through pain…. Just like us.

Should we throw a stone at someone else or should we shut our mouths and open our hearts? Yes, it’s an open and shut case!

GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU!

Love somebody today who doesn’t love you; doesn’t care about you; won’t repay you, can’t repay you and doesn’t want to repay you…then you will be treating them the way God treated you…
