Choices Create Your Future

Having the freedom to make our own choices is a very important issue. Everyday we each make choices to do the things that we do and we like having that ability. For some it's not that simple. Some people are in situations where others have control and are able to command what is done. For example children, prisoners and those in repressive societies. They still have limited choice such as the type of attitude and responses they choose to have to those in control.

No matter what our choices are today one thing you can be sure of is that they are ultimately creating our future. Every choice we make will either cause us to be blessed or cursed. All of our choices have consequences and they will work either in our favor or against us. Only we are responsible for our choices. The Bible tells us, 19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT) Before every decision you should ask, "am I doing it God's way and is this what you want for me Lord?" Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV) 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct[a] your paths.

One big choice we have is when we are faced with temptation, especially temptations that we must resist using the Word of God. Things such as drinking, drugs, fornication, gambling and adultery. Today our society tends to glamorize these things but this is when your choices could have deadly consequences. Due to God's love and mercy our choices may not have immediate results but when we rebel against God's Word and choose our own way we are ultimately choosing a path of destruction. We may all get away with sinning for a time but in the end we will reap what we have sown. However we are all given time to repent and find the Lord or get back on His path.

Galatians 6:7 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
